The struggle of a single mom is becoming more and more common in today’s world. Its ok sis, I am right there with you! But what is the definition of a “single mom”? Apparently society has quite few different perspectives.
For myself, I live the notion of being single, as in I am not in a relationship nor married, as well as being a mother. Now although my relationship status is single, we can get into the gritty part of my motherhood experiences.
Part 1. Sean. He is my oldest daughter’s father. We co-parent VERY well. He has been continuously active in our daughter’s life since day one. It’s almost like we have become best friends over the years and highly respect each other. We can ask each other for most anything and we look out for one another. This is the kind of co-parenting situation I wish on everyone who has had a child with someone and they are no longer together.
Part 2. Charles. He is my middle daughter’s father. My personal thoughts of him I will leave out at this time. But we had to go to court for our daughter over about a 3-4 year period. It was the most difficult and heart-wrenching experience of my life. I would never wish such a situation on my worst enemy. But since we’re here I will admit as a father, he does amazingly, while as anything else, its a no for me.
Part 3. Lynese. She is my youngest of the girl gang and she does not have a father. So its just me. I am and will always be the only parent that she ever knows.
So with 3 very different situations, I’m sure most single moms can relate to at least one of them. Each day us very different but always fun and love filled! I think that regardless of circumstances, motherhood, even if solely raising your little heart in your home by yourself, we are beyond and madly in love with our little people.
